Your Role as a SEND Class Teacher
As a SEND Class Teacher, you will take responsibility for a specialist class while working closely with SEND Teaching Assistants, therapists and other professionals to create meaningful learning opportunities for every pupil.
Your responsibilities will include:

Planning and delivering creative, differentiated lessons appropriate to pupils’ individual developmental levels.

Creating personalised learning opportunities linked to individual EHCP outcomes.

Supporting pupils with SLD, PMLD, communication difficulties and complex additional needs.

Using a range of communication strategies to help pupils participate, interact and make choices.

Developing pupils’ independence, communication, emotional regulation and social skills.

Creating a structured, nurturing and engaging classroom environment.

Leading and effectively deploying SEND Teaching Assistants within your class.

Assessing and monitoring individual progress and adapting teaching strategies accordingly.

Working collaboratively with therapists, families and other professionals.

Using positive behaviour support and appropriate de-escalation strategies.

Ensuring safeguarding, wellbeing and inclusion remain at the heart of classroom practice.
What We’re Looking For
For this SEND Class Teacher position in Bracknell, we’re looking for someone who understands that meaningful progress in specialist education can take many different forms.
You should:

Hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an appropriate recognised teaching qualification.

Have experience teaching or supporting children or young people with SEND.

Understand differentiated, personalised and pupil-centred teaching.

Be confident planning learning around individual needs and EHCP outcomes.

Be able to lead a classroom team and effectively utilise support staff.
-
Be patient, resilient and adaptable in your teaching approach.
-
Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Be committed to developing pupils’ communication, independence and wider life skills.
Experience supporting pupils with SLD, PMLD, autism, sensory needs, communication difficulties or other complex needs would be particularly beneficial.
