Your Role as a KS2 SEND Learning Support Assistant

As a KS2 SEND Learning Support Assistant in Farnham, Surrey, you’ll work alongside teaching and SEND staff to provide consistent, positive support for pupils throughout the school day.

No two days will be exactly the same, but your responsibilities could include:

• Providing one-to-one and small-group support for KS2 pupils with SEND.

• Helping children understand instructions and engage with classroom learning.

• Adapting activities and breaking tasks down into achievable steps.

• Encouraging pupils to develop greater confidence and independence.

• Supporting children’s communication, social interaction and emotional development.

• Using positive strategies to help pupils regulate their emotions and behaviour.

• Providing reassurance when children find situations challenging or overwhelming.

• Working closely with teachers, the SENDCo and other members of the school team.

• Following individual learning plans, EHCP strategies and agreed interventions.

• Helping maintain a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
