We are seeking a compassionate and skilled BSL Teaching Assistant with experience in supporting students with hearing impairments to join our dynamic team. As a vital member of our educational community, you will play a pivotal role in providing personalised assistance and guidance to students, ensuring they have equal access to education and thrive academically.

Key Responsibilities for a BSL Teaching Assistant:

  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement tailored learning strategies and accommodations for students with hearing impairments.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, reinforcing learning objectives and facilitating communication.
  • Assist in the use and maintenance of assistive hearing devices and technologies within the classroom.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and supported.
  • Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents/guardians to address individual needs and progress.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with students with hearing impairments is essential.
  • Strong understanding of hearing impairment-related challenges and accommodations.
  • Proficiency in sign language (e.g., ASL) is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to working with diverse student needs.
  • Relevant certifications or training in special education or related field is a plus.
