Flexible SEND Learning Support Assistant – Slough
£14.24 – £16.00 per hour | Flexible Part-Time Work | 8:30am – 3:30pm
SENDhelp is recruiting experienced Flexible SEND Learning Support Assistants to work across specialist school settings in Slough.
This opportunity is aimed at people who want to continue working with children and young people with special educational needs but need more control over the days they work.
You can tell us which days you are regularly available each week, and we can offer you suitable school work around that availability. Some bookings may be arranged in advance, while others may come through on the morning itself.
This makes the role particularly suitable for people who are studying, have childcare responsibilities, work part-time elsewhere or simply have fixed days during the week when they are free to work.
About the role
As a Flexible SEND Learning Support Assistant, you will provide additional classroom support to children and young people with a range of special educational needs.
Depending on the setting and pupils you are supporting, your responsibilities may include:
-
Providing 1:1 and small-group support
-
Helping pupils access lessons and classroom activities
-
Supporting communication, engagement and independence
-
Assisting pupils with autism, learning difficulties and other additional needs
-
Providing behavioural and emotional support where required
-
Working alongside teachers, Teaching Assistants and other support staff
-
Helping maintain a safe, structured and positive learning environment
Who are we looking for?
Previous experience supporting children or young people with special educational needs is required.
Your experience may have been gained through:
-
A specialist SEND school
-
A mainstream school supporting pupils with additional needs
-
A Learning Support Assistant or Teaching Assistant role
-
Support work
-
Residential care or supported living
-
Specialist childcare or youth work
Experience supporting pupils with autism, learning difficulties, communication needs, complex needs, SEMH or challenging behaviour would be particularly useful.
Flexible work around your availability
You do not need to commit to five days per week.
You may be available every Tuesday and Thursday, three set days each week, or have another regular pattern that works around your existing commitments. Let us know your availability and we can contact you when suitable work becomes available.
As some assignments are day-to-day cover, you should be comfortable receiving a call in the morning for work that same day. When you accept a booking, you will need to be available for the full school day, normally around 8:30am-3:30pm.
We also have full-time and long-term SEND Teaching Assistant and Learning Support Assistant opportunities available in Slough, so candidates looking for consistent Monday-to-Friday work are also welcome to apply through this advert.
Pay: £14.24-£16.00 per hour
Hours: Approximately 8:30am-3:30pm
Location: Slough
