As a KS2 SEND Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with pupils in Key Stage 2 who require additional support with their learning, communication, emotional regulation and participation in school life.
The Role – KS2 SEND Learning Support Assistant
Working as a KS2 SEND Learning Support Assistant in Haslemere, Surrey, your priority will be helping pupils with SEND access learning and develop their confidence and independence.
Your responsibilities may include:

Providing individual and small-group SEND support to KS2 pupils.

Supporting pupils to access classroom activities and adapted learning.

Breaking learning into manageable steps and reinforcing instructions where required.

Helping pupils develop their confidence, independence and engagement with learning.

Supporting children’s social and emotional development.

Using positive behaviour and emotional-regulation strategies.

Encouraging positive relationships and successful interaction with peers.

Working closely with the class teacher, SENDCo and wider support team.

Following individual support plans and strategies for pupils with SEND.

The successful KS2 SEND Learning Support Assistant will be patient, encouraging and able to build positive relationships with primary-aged children.
Experience working with children with SEND would be highly beneficial. This could have been gained within a school, SEND provision, nursery, youth setting, care environment or another child-focused role.
