The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

• Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with a range of additional needs.

• Work alongside class teachers to deliver engaging, personalised learning activities.

• Help pupils develop communication, independence and essential life skills.

• Encourage positive social interactions and emotional wellbeing.

• Support children with autism, severe learning difficulties and complex needs.

• Assist with personal care where required, always promoting dignity and independence.

• Create a safe, nurturing and engaging learning environment.

• Build strong relationships with pupils, families and the wider school team.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal Learning Support Assistant will have:

Essential

• Experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs.

• A caring, patient and resilient approach.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

• A genuine passion for helping children succeed.

Desirable

• Experience supporting pupils with ASD, SLD, PMLD or complex needs.

• Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, sensory learning or alternative communication strategies.

• Previous experience in a specialist school or SEND setting.

• Experience supporting personal care and manual handling.
