🌟 About the Role – SEN Learning Support Assistant
As an SEN Learning Support Assistant in High Wycombe, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with additional needs, helping them access education in a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment.
🔑 Key Responsibilities – SEN Learning Support Assistant
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with special educational needs
- Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored and engaging lessons
- Support pupils with ASD, SEMH, SLD, and other complex needs
- Implement EHCP targets and personalised learning strategies
- Help manage behaviour using positive reinforcement techniques
- Support with personal care where required, maintaining dignity at all times
- Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and SENCOs
- Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to staff
💡 Transferable & Relevant Skills
We welcome candidates with experience in or transferable skills from:
- Care work, youth work, or support work
- Psychology or education-related backgrounds
- Behaviour management and de-escalation techniques
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Emotional resilience and patience
- Ability to build positive relationships with children and staff
🎓 Knowledge & Qualifications
- Experience working with children with SEN (preferred but not essential)
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection
- Knowledge of SEN such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or MLD
- Team Teach or similar training (desirable)
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Health & Social Care, Psychology) are advantageous
- A genuine passion for working as an SEN Learning Support Assistant
