🌟 About the Role – SEN Learning Support Assistant

As an SEN Learning Support Assistant in High Wycombe, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with additional needs, helping them access education in a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment.


🔑 Key Responsibilities – SEN Learning Support Assistant

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with special educational needs
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored and engaging lessons
  • Support pupils with ASD, SEMH, SLD, and other complex needs
  • Implement EHCP targets and personalised learning strategies
  • Help manage behaviour using positive reinforcement techniques
  • Support with personal care where required, maintaining dignity at all times
  • Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and SENCOs
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to staff

💡 Transferable & Relevant Skills

We welcome candidates with experience in or transferable skills from:

  • Care work, youth work, or support work
  • Psychology or education-related backgrounds
  • Behaviour management and de-escalation techniques
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Emotional resilience and patience
  • Ability to build positive relationships with children and staff

🎓 Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Experience working with children with SEN (preferred but not essential)
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection
  • Knowledge of SEN such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or MLD
  • Team Teach or similar training (desirable)
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Health & Social Care, Psychology) are advantageous
  • A genuine passion for working as an SEN Learning Support Assistant
