An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a welcoming and nurturing village primary school in Surrey from September.

We are seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to provide 1:1 support for a child joining Reception who has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and complex additional needs. This rewarding Learning Support Assistant (LSA) role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children with SEND and helping every child to thrive within an inclusive learning environment.

The Role

As the Learning Support Assistant (LSA), you will:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Reception child with an EHCP and complex needs.

  • Support the child’s learning, communication, emotional regulation and personal development throughout the school day.

  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo and external professionals to deliver personalised support.

  • Implement agreed strategies and interventions to enable the child to access learning successfully.

  • Promote independence while ensuring the child’s safety and wellbeing.

  • Build a trusting, positive relationship with the child and their family.

Essential Requirements

The successful Learning Support Assistant (LSA) must:

  • Have proven experience working with children with SEND, particularly those with complex needs.

  • Hold current training (or be willing to undertake immediate training) in Positive Touch and physical intervention/restraint appropriate for educational settings.

  • Be confident supporting children with communication, sensory and behavioural needs.

  • Be comfortable and willing to undertake personal care duties, including changing nappies, while maintaining the child’s dignity and privacy.

  • Demonstrate patience, resilience, empathy and excellent communication skills.

  • Work collaboratively as part of a supportive school team.
