An exciting opportunity had arisen in a mainstream Luton primary school for a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to support students who have various special needs, including ASD, Complex Needs, Hearing Impairment and Challenging Behaviour.
Your new school, an OFSTED rated ‘Outstanding’ school will welcome you to their family warmly and will be highly supportive. You will be the newest addition to the schools SEND team where you will work alongside some really talented colleagues.
Being such a large Luton school, there are a high proportion of children that have been given an EHCP (Education and Health Care Plan) and therefore will each have a unique care plan for you and the SEN team to work towards. The school uses a combination of team work, tenacity and planning to deliver an outstanding education to any child, regardless of their additional or special needs.
The ideal candidate will have experience in working with children or adults with SEND and will be familiar with some (or all) of the following training/certifications:
- Sign Supported English
- British Sign Language
- Deaf Awareness training
- Attention Autism training
- Sensory Processing training
- Behaviour Management training
You will be confident in working with students on a 1:1 basis or small group basis and will also be assisting the class teachers where necessary. Your goal as the schools new Special Needs Teaching Assistant is to guide the children with additional needs to reach their full potential academically whilst improving their abilities in line with their special needs.
This role is to start as soon as possible and the school are happy to let you attend a trial day so that you can meet the children and your future colleagues before applying.
