SENDhelp is recruiting dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants across Buckinghamshire to support children and young people through our specialist EOTAS (Education Otherwise Than At School) programmes.

We work directly with Buckinghamshire local authority services to deliver bespoke educational support to children who are currently unable to attend mainstream or specialist school settings.

Our EOTAS packages provide personalised education within children’s homes, community settings and other suitable learning environments, helping learners develop confidence, independence, social skills and educational progress.

The SEN Teaching Assistant Role

As an EOTAS Teaching Assistant, you will provide individualised educational support to children and young people with a range of complex special educational needs.

Many of our Buckinghamshire EOTAS packages operate with two Teaching Assistants working collaboratively under the guidance of a qualified Lead Teacher, ensuring learners receive consistent, structured and engaging support.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Delivering engaging, personalised learning activities tailored to individual needs.

• Supporting children with autism, ADHD, PDA, SEMH, learning difficulties and other complex SEND needs.

• Building positive, trusting relationships with learners who may have experienced barriers to education.

• Supporting communication, emotional regulation, social development and independence.

• Delivering sensory, practical, play based and community focused learning activities.

• Working closely with Lead Teachers, fellow Teaching Assistants, families and other professionals.

• Monitoring learner engagement, development and progress.

• Helping children rebuild confidence and develop positive relationships with education.

EOTAS Teaching Assistant Locations Across Buckinghamshire

We have ongoing SEN Teaching Assistant opportunities throughout Buckinghamshire, with assignments available in locations including:

• High Wycombe

• Aylesbury

• Amersham

• Chesham

• Beaconsfield

• Princes Risborough

• Other surrounding Buckinghamshire towns and communities

Locations, working days and hours vary between individual EOTAS packages. We aim to match each SEN Teaching Assistant with suitable opportunities based on their experience, availability and preferred working locations.

What We’re Looking For

We are particularly interested in hearing from SEN Teaching Assistants who have:

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with special educational needs.

• Experience working with autism, PDA, SEMH, challenging behaviours or complex learning needs.

• A patient, nurturing, adaptable and resilient approach.

• The ability to build meaningful relationships with children who may be reluctant to engage in education.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

• Confidence supporting children in home based and community learning environments.

• A genuine passion for inclusive education and improving outcomes for vulnerable learners.

Previous experience working within EOTAS, alternative provision, specialist SEND schools or outreach education would be advantageous, although relevant experience in other educational or care settings will also be considered.
