Youth Support Worker – Full-Time – Slough

Are you someone who thrives when supporting young people through challenging times? Do you have experience helping primary-aged children manage difficult behaviour, build trust, and rediscover their potential?

We’re looking for a Youth Support Worker to join a fantastic specialist school in Slough, working full-time with children who need more than just a teacher – they need a mentor, a guide, and a consistent adult who sees beyond the behaviour.

This role would suit someone who has worked with children facing social, emotional, or behavioural challenges – whether that’s in education, youth work, residential care, or even the justice system. You do not need to have been a youth support worker before – but you must have supported primary-aged children in a setting where trauma, adverse childhood experiences or behaviour challenges were present.

About the Youth Support Worker Role:

As a Youth Support Worker in Slough, you’ll play a vital role in:

  • Supporting children aged 5-11 who may be struggling with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs.

  • Building consistent, trusting relationships that help children feel safe, regulated and ready to learn.

  • Supporting with behaviour management and de-escalation in a calm, professional way.

  • Working 1:1 and in small groups to help pupils access their learning and stay engaged.

  • Acting as a positive, stable adult role model – using empathy and structure to guide pupils through their day.

Who Would Be a Great Fit for This Youth Support Worker Role?

You don’t need to have “Youth Support Worker” on your CV – but if any of the following describe you, we want to hear from you:

  • You’ve worked with primary-aged children in a school, PRU, residential care home, or other support setting.

  • You have experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour, emotional regulation needs, or trauma backgrounds.

  • You may have previously worked as a Behaviour Mentor, Residential Support Worker, Teaching Assistant, or Youth Justice professional.

  • You’re calm under pressure, emotionally resilient, and not afraid of tough days – because you believe every child deserves a fresh start.

  • You’re available full-time, Monday to Friday, and ready to be a consistent presence for young learners.

Why work as a Youth Support Worker in Slough with us?

  • Join a supportive, specialist school environment committed to helping young people succeed.

  • Enjoy weekly pay via PAYE – no umbrella companies or hidden deductions.

  • Trial days available so you can see if the setting is right for you.

  • Work with a dedicated SENDhelp consultant who truly understands your skills and career goals.

  • Access over 400+ FREE professional development courses to enhance your skills.

This is more than a classroom role – it’s a chance to make a real difference in the life of a child who needs someone in their corner.
