Safeguarding & Vetting

Safety is our priority...

  • As a specialist healthcare and education recruiter, ensuring children and adults are safe is absolutely paramount to us. That is why we conduct thorough checks on all our candidates. These checks are completed by our specially trained vetting officers.
  • The first stage of the vetting process is done verbally by telephone. This allows us to assess the suitability of a candidate by discussing their relevant work experience, exploring their CV and seeking to understand their requirements for their next role. Only suitable, well-matched candidates will be invited for a face-to-face interview.
  • We meet all of our prospective candidates in person. This is partly to ensure that we provide a personal service, to be certain we are matching the correct candidates to service users and jobs in terms of personality and fit. It also helps us complete the relevant forms with the candidate, and independently verify their identification documents face-to-face. This stage of the process enables us to get to know the candidate better.
  • We will talk through their experience in more detail, ensure they will be a credit to the care providers we place them with and that they meet the high standards we expect from all SENDhelp staff. We will also discuss and verify any relevant qualifications and training that the candidate may have and will begin to build a profile on them which can then be used as a summary, which is typically sent to our partner care providers as a factual, accurate and updated replacement of their CV.
  • At the interview, we will request the following information from the candidate. We aim to have all documentation verified and checked so that the candidate is cleared for work as quickly as possible:
  • CV
  • Certificates / qualifications
  • Enhanced DBS Disclosure (Usually Child and Adult)
  • Child Barred List check
  • Adult Barred List check
  • Teacher Prohibition Check
  • Section 128 check
  • DBS on Update Service
  • 2 x References that cover 12 months of relevant employment
  • Right to Work
  • Visa
  • Overseas Police Check
  • Proof of Address
  • Health and Disability Form
  • Adult Disqualification Declaration
  • National Insurance Number

All candidates are required to complete a safeguarding assessment and must score at least 80% accuracy, otherwise they will be required to complete a Level 2 safeguarding course prior to completing registration.

  • We operate a traffic light system which clearly indicates to a candidate’s position within our robust clearing system. Statuses are fixed and can only be changed at director level to ensure that a candidates file is rechecked every time their status changes. Every candidate’s file is checked as default by three individual SENDhelp staff before they are set to High. If a candidate has not been placed into work by SENDhelp within 3 months of being set to High then they are automatically reset to Medium.

This works as follows:

  • When confirming each and every booking with a care provider, we supply the above information in a one-page Vetting Form, so that you can be assured we are adhering to the highest standards and only providing quality, vetted candidates.
